CFE-ED. Frederick MALTBY, b. Dec. 4, 1776, Canterbury, Conn.
(Noah 4, Jos.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). He went to Woodbury and m.
Dec. 2, 1798, (acc. to Letter from the Library at Albany, N.Y.).
This letter also states: "He moved to Lanesboro, Mass., in 1800;
to Ulster Co., N.Y., and to a farm 4 miles West of Shawneetown, Ill.
in 1819." "Frederick was a brother of Adin, both were sons of John
Maltby a hatter." (Note. This is an error--they were sons of Noah).
The Woodbury Rec. "17 Feb. 1797" gives "Frederick Maltby of
Woodbury to Salmon Hawley of Woodbury, the one ninth part of a cer-
tain piece of land in the north-west part of Woodbury, for descrip-
tion of which reference may be had to a deed of Asahel Martin, dated
18 May 1785, and one by Jonathan Baker, dated 2 Feb. 1785. The said
premises are now undivided among the heirs of Noah Maltby. The whole
is subject to the use and improvement of Huldah Maltby, widow of
said Noah, during her natural life."
I think it probable Frederick was father of a Sophia Maltby
(Kimball Gen., p. 574) who mar. James Kimball, b. at Penbroke, New
Hampshire, Mar. 26, 1796; died in Florida, May 31, 1871. They were
mar. March 14, 1819. He resided in Bradford, Vt. and from there
removed to Barre, Vt.
Their eldest child was named Huldah Kimball. We list the Kim-
ball children in the records of the 6th generation.
